In 1989, ALESSI took over the company PIAZZA BATTISTA, one of the oldest traditional wood turners in the Strona Valley on Lake Orta. Alberto Alessi named his label TWERGI and commissioned Milton Glaser for the CI and some of the best-known designers for the product designs. The aim was to transport traditional woodworking techniques into the present day.
