The SHAKER religious community was founded in Manchester, Great Britain, in the 18th century. In 1774, the group emigrated to the American state of New York.

Here in Europe, the Shakers are mainly known for their furniture and product designs. Today, the Shaker style is considered an independent and influential contribution to art history. Shaker furniture was already widespread throughout the USA in the 19th century and was also presented at world exhibitions. Their formal austerity, lack of ornamentation and focus on utility show parallels to the English Arts and Crafts movement and also influenced modern architecture and design at the beginning of the 20th century.

I buy this candlestick in Denmark! It is being produced there again today under official Shaker license using the traditional casting method. Made of bronze. I was really pleased to find this one.

You control the center of gravity of the candle by adjusting the height/screw. Nothing wobbles.
